Meal brand businesses are
notoriously difficult to run.

A meal brand business is one company doing the work of five. You are a restaurant, a manufacturer, a logistics company, a direct to consumer operation, and a subscription brand. The operational surface area is enormous: cold chain, co-packers, kitchen labor, packaging, allergen labeling, food safety inspections, churn modeling, CAC payback math, delivery rates, hiring staff, and marketing.

The advice that exists for meal brand founders is thin. The people who have figured it out have moved on, or are quietly busy running their businesses. Food Operators is the alternative. A private community of entrepreneurs solving the same problems you are, willing to share what's working, experiments they've tried, and what mistakes to avoid. We built Food Operators because we needed it ourselves, open to active operators navigating the same journey.
— Paul Kim, Founder of Food Operators

Frequently asked

What is Food Operators? +
Food Operators is a private community for founders, CEOs, and operators of meal brand businesses. The heart of Food Operators is our vibrant, online discussion form where vetted operators post questions, share knowledge and help each other. This is the biggest value-add for most members. You’ll also receive access to our member recommended partner rolodex, invites to local and national events, access to our member directory and more.
What are the requirements to join? +
Food Operators is for actively operating founders, CEOs, and owners running a meal kit, prepared meal, or ready-to-cook business. We require members to use their real name, a current photo, and share the business they run inside the Food Operators community. This builds trust, transparency and makes it clear who you’re talking to and/or getting advice from.
Is there a revenue requirement? +
If you're in the meal kit, prepared meal, or ready-to-cook business, we'd love to have you join us. We've got operators doing $50k a year sitting in the same channels as operators doing $5M, and everyone is learning from each other.
I run a small operation delivering locally. Is this right for me? +
Yes! The majority of our members run businesses serving their local area. Some of the larger businesses have expanded to a few other regions than the one they started out in.
What time commitment will it require? +
Food Operators is intentionally designed to be a low-lift, always-on community. Some members are active daily, others jump in from time to time to catch up on conversations, network with other members, and ask for feedback with a decision they’re facing. Digital events are recorded and accessible at all times for members, and attendance to any in-person events we host are optional.
How much does it cost? +
Membership to Food Operators costs $199/month. We've structured our dues to make it a no-brainer because we know one connection or one breakthrough conversation will give members 10x value of the membership dues.

The first 100 members get access through our Founding Members rate of $99/month. This rate is locked in for as long as you're a member, no matter how much the cost of membership increases in the future.
Can I expense it? +
Yes, most members write off the cost of membership as a professional development or dues and subscriptions expense.
